FRIDAY! One week down...

Heeeyoooo it's Friday! And a three day weekend. Bring on the excellence. Also, for some reason... I love this?!  exactly the way I drink milk. Always. Umm let's see. In other news, my cat is psycho? Nothing new there. Uhhhhh oh yes. NaNoBlog. The novel is going... not bad... so far. The plot is getting going, and I'm so sorry but as I'm typing this I can still see the gif up there and I really can't concentrate on anything because serious wtf is happening in that infomercial hahahaha. ANYWAY. My main character has met her Mentor, her First Love Interest, and is soon going to be dragged away from everything she knows into a strange and dangerous world *cue dramatic music?* Ummmmmmmmmmm I decided last night that I love Justin Long and that the main character's Second Love Interest should basically just look like Justin Long. True story, tried looking for Justin Long pictures on Google and all i got were JBiebs. Not what I wanted.

Day Three

My cat and I could not handle the end of Daylight Savings this morning. (not a surprise). He woke up at 4am hungry for breakfast, I woke up either at 7 or 8 and I'm still not sure which one it was. In other news, we didn't get snow last night! Sure, it's November, this is Maine, and if it's anything like Minnesota in the early winter, it's going to snow in November. I should probably find my winter clothes...? Yeah, that's a good plan. Oh yes, NaNoWriMo! I'm slugging along, not doing too badly considering that I've been busy the first two days of the month. I really can't wait until the plot gets going but I'm close to that point! So close! so close. The grating protagonist is paragraphs away from meeting her Wise Mentor, who is named Phoebe. They don't like each other. Who am I kidding, Sin doesn't like anyone. Phoebe is still stuck in that post-college "wtf am I doing with my life" phase, and she meets Sin in

NANOWRIMO2013

Yo. Back again. So, question. Why do I only update my blog when I'm doing NaNoWriMo activities? ...actually, the answer just came to me. Because I'm procrastinating. If I can pretend that talking about writing will actually make me write more... then yes, yes I will talk about writing. So! Anyway! NaNo 2013 I spent October doing this NaNoWriMo "Warm-Up" where I "wrote" (why is wrote in quotes? I did actually write) 25,000 words. I didn't limit myself to one project/story and that helped make those 25,000 words happen. Around... the 24th?... I remembered that the ONE THING (perhaps the only thing) I learned from NaNo last year was that I should plan my novel before starting it. This started a panicked frenzy (I almost wrote prantic frenckzy? Makes sense) of me trying to come up with a plot and characters and all that good stuff. I was on the fence for a while about writing the YA Dystopia of my dreams or a Fractured Fairytale. Then, I remembe

Today

This just about sums up my day. In other news, yay fall!

Day 24

this is all Nah, I'm totally rocking this NaNoWriMoing In other news, I decided to do some ~nail art~ on myself. 10 nails.  3 nails are acceptable 1 of these nails is plain nailpolish it counts.   Word Count: 26,609 Feeling: Like I need to get off pinterest and go to bed

Ten Days Left

Well, Camp NaNoWriMo is winding down. Ummm.... I wish that I had some informational nonsense to share today, but I don't. It's been wretched hot here all week, and I've learned that there's a big difference between summering in Tucson where it's wretched hot all the time but everywhere has a/c, and summering in coastal Maine, where when it's wretched hot, not nearly enough places have a/c. It finally cooled down last night, and should hopefully stay bearable temperatures for at least next week. Back to writing! The story is going well! I've been prolific this weekend, and I hope that I stay with this story past NaNoWriMo, as there's a lot more of it to write. Si is about to join a secret society (I don't even know hahaha) and Bixby has been captured and is on her way to escaping! Good luck with that, everyone. I realized that I just set up Bixby's story to have a love triangle, but I hate love triangles, and Bixby doesn't have time

Sweet Seventeen

Still going at it! Camp NaNoWriMo is 17 days in, and I think it took me seventeen days to realize that the story I'm writing is not even close to being halfway over. It's reaching the initial climax, which will then be followed by the real rising action... If I'm going to stick with this novel it's going to probably end up being more than 50,000 words. Not a bad thing, of course... just... difficult, seeing as the best way for me to motivate myself to write is by doing NaNoWriMo. Oh well! Um, I'll be brief up here, since I have a really important topic to discuss below. Writing is still going well, Bixby is about to get married (or so she thinks!) and Si is currently backed into a corner by a bunch of thugs. It's only 8 annnnnnd I'm ready for bed. Alright, what I wanted to discuss were GIBBONS. Let's begin! 1) Gibbons are not monkeys, but apes! They are commonly referred to as lesser apes, from the family Hylobatidae! (We are part of the g

Day 12 whaaaaat~!

So! Almost halfway there! Exciting, exciting. Um, I've been slacking with the writing. I have written every day, which was part of my goal, so I'm not too heartbroken over it. ummmmmmmmmmmm yup. Not much else to report there. This fellow looks just like my Frank! I could I could talk about my cat for a while, but I am honestly convinced that no one cares about my cat, so I won't :) So yeah, back to NaNoWriMo. The story is still depressing.... I realized that I set myself up for a depressing story. oh! Let's add some more zombies! Because that will make it happier?! Let's talk about what's going on here, because I don't get it. In other news, it's Friday. The ADHD that I didn't have as a child releases itself on Fridays. True fact. In other, other news, I used my college education today! A co-worker asked what an Ulnar Shaft was, and I was like, "oh, please, you know, the ulna." So I

Day Six

... Yes. It is Day 6. For a second, I thought that maybe it was actually Day 7 and I was an idiot, but no, we're good. Might still be an idiot, though. Well, Camp NaNoWriMo is going, if nothing else! I was amazingly (but unsurprisingly) unproductive on the 4th, wrote about 900 words yesterday, and am still getting up to my word-count-goal for today. Happy Caturday. Here's a cat. The Fool and the Rock In other news, I took a hike today at a state park and then drove to Bangor and learned some things! 1) Mainers really like cairns.  2) Maine is freaking beautiful??? 3) Maine is basically the exact same as the northwoods of Minnesota and Wisconsin except with the ocean, mini-mountains, an obsession with lobster and even weirder accents. 4)  Ever since working retail for a year and a half, I've become increasingly more awkward when I talk to sales associates at stores. Not sure why. Hahahaha 5) Yup, that's about it. Anyway, while I was sitting on the

Three Days In...

Day 3! So far, the novel is going surprisingly... well... This is probably because I started writing it on Sunday (shhh don't tell) and ended up about 3,000 words ahead of schedule. As a result, I'm not pulling words out of my teeth (not an actual expression), although I am trying to write the prescribed number of words one should write a day if one wishes to finish NaNoWriMo on time. So far, so good! Hit a bit of a block today-- my original plan was to have three main characters, each chapter devoted to a different POV (it's fine, ok?! It's fine for a 30,000 word novella, ok?!) but I am feeling uninspired to write the third character. I'm blaming it on the fact that unlike the two other characters, the people she loves don't die horrific deaths. She's kind of a grouch, this character, and I was planning on most of her story being her complaining about life, which, as it turns out, is really boring to write. I'll try writing about her. Maybe she&

July Camp

It'd be great if I could be at real camp, but I'm trying out July Camp NaNoWriMo. After my spectacular failure at April's session, this time I've actually "planned" a novel, and even if I don't hit my word goal, hope to write at least once a day. I won't be writing Andrian Adventures ... People (you know, the three people who've read AA ) always ask if I'm still writing it. I'm all: I can water my wii with orange juice if I want to! Um so yeah. Anyway. I struggled for a while trying to decide if I wanted to write a fantasy or sci-fi, and determined that really all I wanted to do was write a horrible post-apocolyptic dystopia, so that's what I'm doing. I struggled for a while about how many main characters I wanted; settled on three, and then decided that since I am not the best at writing third-person POV fantasy, I was going to make it 1st person POV for all three characters.... this is going to be one helluva magica

Maine Move

Well! It's Day Two of our (epic?) journey to Maine, which has so far included No stops at road-side Cheese attractions in Wisconsin A stop at Portillos in Chicago for some delicious Italian Beef Getting lost a few times (on Interstate Highways... don't even ask) Driving 13 hours but seeming to get no closer to Cleveland Listening to two books on CD (Howl's Moving Castle-- still a classic) Singing REALLY loudly to Teenage Dream, Animal, and all Cloud Cult songs Stopping for the night in Somewhere, Indiana As it turns out, driving with a Uhaul is slower than anticipated, but we're driving and driving, and we put in an extra travel day, so we will make it in time WOOHOO Maine! (eventually) :)
